Giveaway | Specs Appeal with London Retro Glasses

All through my teenage years I grappled with wearing glasses, at 15 looking geeky wasn’t on my ‘to do list’ therefore I squinted through 3 years until I could take it no more and took the plunge and got specs. I would love to be able to show you the old pictures of me in my various pairs, however thanks to mobile phones without cameras and a distinct dislike of every pair I owned I don’t have a single picture of me in them.

In fairness over the following years I just gave up wearing them and it was only when the lovely lot from My Optique got in touch with me and offered me a pair of London Retro glasses did I realise that I have struggled without my glasses for almost 10 years, I have to accept I am a grown up and should really look after my eyes, especially now I am working for myself and staring at a screen most of the day.

I won’t lie to you, it took me the best part of 2 hours to decide on the frames I wanted, there are so many to choose from and making sure that they not only look great but suit me too is quite a challenge, there are so many options, I honestly would be aghast if anyone struggled to find the frames of their dreams on the site, everything from retro cat eyes, wheres wally round dark ones or slim and slender like Tina Fey.

My initial thought was to go for a solid dark frame, think along the lines of Zooey Deschenel in New Girl or Lois Lane, then I spotted these London Retro Highgate ones, tortoise shell with a neon purple inner, which I thought would make my already bright green eyes that bit more intense. The lenses themselves are scratch-resistant and & anti-reflective, which I can tell you was a god send whilst pottering around a very sunny York yesterday and with my legendary clumsiness, the extra pair of lenses that came with it will, I am sure come in handy.

I wasn’t sure about ordering glasses and prescriptions online, but it couldn’t have been more straight forward, choose the frames, enter prescription and order, simple as that! Within 5 days they had arrived, in quite the impressive box, in a lush leather case, it was love at first wear.

I could happily wax lyrical about just how fabulous these glasses are, however I won’t bore you to tears, instead I will say simply this, they are incredilbly light making them a joy to wear, especially at night when I am reading, the frames are unisex so look great when I have my hair pulled back as much as they do with a flash of lipstick and my long locks flowing.

I have to admit to being one for style over substance in most fashion cases, however there was no need to compromise with these beauties, they are not only a life saver when it comes to staring at a screen all day, they also look dam fine to boot.
