I remember clearly the day I got my hands on a real pair of straighteners, the expensive kind, the kind that I believed would change everything. That would transform my hair from Diana Ross after a heavy night to sleek and chic, and it did! Since then I have become reliant on them to give me hair confidence, then during a conversation at my hairdresser at Russell Eaton, Rob mentioned the Curl Bar and I thought he has lost his mind, in fact no, he was right on the money, the Curl Bar is I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E! *read to the end, I’m giving one away!*
The Curl Bar might be the most unique looking hair tool going, instead of a wand, the iron is horizontal with a handle at one end. It’s designed that way to eradicate any awkward maneuvering you typically do trying to get a wand around your head–for me, that means my elbow in the air, wrist twisted, and shoulder scrunched, this design makes for a much, much nicer experience, it also prevents the dreaded burns you may get while going for a hard-to-reach section. If you’re anything like me and have long ass thick hair you will know the pain of curling your hair.
The barrel comes in two sizes, I went for the 25mm as I like thinner, beachy tousled waves as apposed to big volume curls. It has adjustable temperature digital control, which means it can be used on fine, delicate hair as easily as thick course hair. It even has a timer you can set, and it will vibrate in your hand to tell you the curl has been on the bar the perfect amount of time, something I thought was a little gimmicky but actually turned out to be a life saver and ensure perfect uniform curls.
You can set it for up to 30 seconds, I go for around 15 for natural, tousled waves. It means no more counting to yourself, or getting distracted and ending up frying your hair. The temperature is also adjustable, up to 320°C, which was is great if you have bleached or heavily coloured hair. Last but by no means, it’s super quick to heat up after plugging in so you really waste no time.
Although I can curl my hair with straighteners, they drop out within a few hours, and definitely leave my ends feeling fried, not an issue with the Curl Bar, it holds curls for days and leaves my hair feeling silky smooth and not over heated.
My entire head of hair takes just 30 minutes, compared to an hour with my straighteners, also means no sore shoulders or wrists. I won’t lie, I’ve been loving the compliments about just how fantastic my hair looks when curled.
Rob, owner of Russell Eaton is a brand ambassador for the Curl Bar and if it’s good enough for him, and his salons, then it’s most certainly good enough for me
