Perfume | Dolce and Gabbana Desire

dolce and gabanna desire review

Just like jeans white shirts and little black dresses, finding the perfect new perfume is an art form, you need to know what you like before you know  what you might like. I have worn numerous perfumes over the years, but never felt like they were ‘me’.

So as autumn approached I realised that I wanted a deeper more earthy and masculine scent, and by chance one of the glamorous Harvey Nichols perfume girls wafted Dolce and Gabbana Desire under my nose it was love at first sniff.

The bottle design offers everything I love in design, solid, angular with an elegant shine and dense gold and glass lid, the lettering is in fact Stefano Gabbana’s elegant handwriting. The opaque gold hue draws on the opulence of Baroque period and Sicily, the birthplace of Domenico Dolce.

Desire is an oriental floral scent, with top notes of mandarin, lychee and bergamot with melt perfectly with the sweet innocence of lily of the valley.

The heart notes are incredibly feminine, with the heady opulence of Indian tuberose, blended with velvety jasmine and heavenly sweet plum nectar, with rich base notes of vanilla infused caramel, intertwined with warming sandalwood and a touch of musk and Cistus Labdanum.

I think the thing I love most about the scent is the phenomenal wear I get; about 8 hours, changing from powerful depth to a subtle sweetness . It’s voluptuous yet light, sophisticated yet fun, the perfect grown-up choice for fans of florals.
