My Favourite Sailor Jerry Cocktails

I’m a whiskey or vodka girl, but if any dark liquor was to lure me away from my beloved, it would be Rum *heart eyes* so you can imagine my delight when Sailor Jerry got in touch and asked me to share my favourite Spiced Rum cocktails to celebrate the birthday of the man who inspired the creation of Sailor Jerrys.

Born Norman Collins, in 1911, it was clear from very early on he’d no plans on living a normal, run of the mill life. He left home as a teenager, travelled, met a tattoo god called Gib ‘Tatts’ Thomas, who taught him to use a tattoo machine, he joined The Navy, and ended up in Hawaii where he became one of the most renowned tattoo artist, revolutionising inks and techniques used. He was known as Sailor Jerry. There’s even an annual festival in his honour.

Inspired by this incredible man, his passion and talents along with is love for Rum, Sailor Jerry as we know and love it, was born. Sailor Jerry bottles feature a quintessential Sailor Jerry hula girl on the label and as the bottle is empties, additional pin-up girls designed by Sailor Jerry are visible on the inner side of the label.
