I’m a hotel whore, there is just about nothing that makes me happier than escaping to crisp sheets, mini bath products and a night away from reality. So when Hilton Double Tree invited me to stay with them in Leeds, and not in any room, but in a junior suite I basically bit their hands off!
So a few Friday’s ago I hopped on the train to Leeds and began my mini Double Tree adventure. One of the best things about the Double Tree is that, since the new South Entrance of Leeds Station has been developed, it is literally 5 minutes walk from the platform to the lobby. They have parking at the hotel as well, but seriously train is the best way! Also if you happen to be in need of a manicure during your stay, my favourite beauty spot in Leeds, Pastille, is a stones throw away!
Probably one of my favourite moments in the whole stay was arriving to a warm cookie as I checked in, seriously more places need to welcome you with cookies! The check in process was simple and efficient, exactly as expected and off I headed up to the 6th floor and my incredibly beautiful suite with wrap around views of Leeds, including the Leeds > Liverpool Canal. Oh did I mention there was a Nespresso machine too? Yippee! And the pods they had were my favourite too, winner!
The room itself was really beautiful, bright, airy and had a super comfy bed. Surely one of the best things about staying in a hotel is the bed, usually way bigger than the one you have at home and even better you don’t have to make it!
The layout of the room meant that laid in bed, with all the curtains open I was surrounded by sunlight and views of the city, which made my two hours of working much more enjoyable.
I love a good mirror, there are never enough in hotel rooms for my liking, they are usually crappy and certainly never full length, that was far from the case at DoubleTree Leeds, there were two on the wardrobe and one HUGE one which I was more than a little in love with and took more than a few outfit photos in!
Next up on the list of things I love in hotel rooms is toiletries, now my bathroom at home is stocked to the rafters with products, but lord do I love hotel toiletries! Crabtree & Evelyn Verbena & Lavender made for the perfect pre night out scent, woke up me up and smelt amazing! I won’t lie, they came home with me!
The bathroom was large, and although no bath did have a massive shower which was very welcome the next morning when I was more than a little hungover thanks to the Sky Lounge cocktails!
Once Sarah, my sleep over buddy, arrived we had a quick catch up and headed down to The Lock to have some dinner. It was a lovely evening but not quite warm enough to sit outside, although I’ll be back soon to do that again, so we settled for a lovely window table and I would love to be able to show you rafts of photos of the food, but honestly it was so tasty we wolfed it down and got completely engrossed in catching up!
The menu was really interesting, with heaps of choice and they were really accommodating of Sarah’s need for a completely gluten and wheat free meal, which we were both impressed with.
I went for the Flat Iron Chicken which was packed with flavour, paired with super tasty chips and a thick garlicy sauce, it’s making my mouth water just thinking about it!
Sarah went for steak, mashed potato and some super sweet and tasty roast peppers. We we’re treated to a lovely bottle of Rose Processo, before heading upstairs to the Sky Lounge.
I will definitely be heading back to The Lock, it’s a great place to spend a chilled afternoon or the start of a very fun night in Leeds.
My happiest memory of Sky Lounge at Double Tree is the night of my wonderful friends wedding, we carried on the party into the early hours with cocktails and lots of laughter almost two years ago, so it was really lovely to head back for another night of cocktails with another fantastic friend.
The Sky Lounge is really beautiful, even just sitting inside you have fantastic views of the city, but there is something extra special about the balcony, a moment to feel completely in the city and the moment.
The cocktail menu is sublime, the staff are brilliant and the whole evening was a roaring success.
The best thing about waking up hungover? Waking up hungover in a massive bed, watching the huge tv on the wall and remembering the awesome front desk staff gave you an extra cookie to help cure the sore head, perfect with a coffee!
With no where to be on the Saturday morning, and with a standard check out time of 12 noon, I made the most of laying under the covers staring out at the city thinking just how lucky I am to do what I do!
When you think Hilton can’t get any better, they do, with a brilliant Honours scheme and an app to go with it! You earn points when you stay, you can book and manage your booking through the app for hotels all over the world! Who doesn’t love a good app!
Huge thank you to Hilton Double Tree Leeds for my wonderful stay, I have already booked another stay for a friends birthday later this year.
*I was provided my stay free of charge, however as always, my opinions are all my own and entirely honest!
